I hold a PhD in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in Communication, Art, and Culture, both from the University of Minho, Portugal. I also completed postgraduate studies in Urban Studies at ISCTE/Nova University Lisbon and earned my Journalism degree from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil.
I am an integrated researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) at the University of Minho, the only centre of excellence in Communication Sciences in Portugal.
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I have lived in so many places. I am also a Portuguese national, fluent in Portuguese and English, with B2 German skills, having lived in Erlangen, Germany, for two years. Since 2014, I have been based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Beyond academia, I am a passionate Flamengo supporter, an amateur tennis player, and a singer-songwriter and guitarist with numerous albums produced and released over the past 30 years. I also bring extensive experience as a journalist specialising in event production and coverage.
My research interests span Communication Sciences, Cultural Studies, Independent Record Labels, Indie Music, Art Worlds, Underground Music Scenes, Countercultures, Urban Cultures, Do It Yourself (DIY) and Do It Together (DIT) practices, Cultural Policies, Popular Music, Violence in Media, and Pop Culture.
