Anticristos Superstars Podcast
“Anticristos Superstars” is a podcast derived from the Master’s dissertation of the same name, written by Luiz Alberto Moura at the University of Minho, Portugal, in 2016. The series offers a critical analysis of media coverage surrounding the case of Francisco de Assis Pereira—the “Maníaco do Parque”—considered one of Brazil’s most prolific serial killers. Through examination of print journalism from Folha de São Paulo and television reporting from Rede Globo’s Fantástico programme, the podcast interrogates the spectacularisation of violence and the process by which Francisco was transformed into a grotesque figure in the public imagination.
